What is an oil pump?

How does the oil pump work?

- Lubrication: The oil pumped reaches the key parts of the engine, providing lubrication, reducing friction between moving parts, and helping cool parts exposed to high temperatures.
- Return to the reservoir: After passing through the engine, the oil returns to the oil reservoir to be drawn in again by the pump.
- Pressure control: Many oil pumps have built-in mechanisms to control pressure in order to maintain a stable oil pressure in the engine. This is important because certain engine parts, such as bearings, require a specific oil pressure for optimal lubrication.
